A real estate developer from Kharkiv (Ukraine’s 2nd largest city), Volodymir Rozhkov, two years ago bought a long-abandoned children’s camp. He intended to redevelop it into a recreational area with a cafe. This was before the war. Many people started fleeing the war zone, either to un-occupied parts of Ukraine or to Russia, depending on their political leanings or family ties. By estimation of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees about 490,000 Ukrainians have registered as internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Ukraine. Almost the same number 430,000 is reported ,to seek asylum or other forms of legal status in Russia.
